China Big Data Market Grows 45% to CNY16.8 bn

CAICT (China Academy of Information and Communications Technology) announced the China Big Data Development Survey Report. China's big data market was worth CNY16.8 billion in 2016, growing 45 percent, and is expected to grow over 30 percent during 2017-2020, according to the report.


59.2 percent of the surveyed big data corporations have set up data analysis relevant departments and 27.3 percent will establish the data department.


Big data application has been further popularized in China. 35.1 percent of the respondents have applied big data, increasing from 2015 while 22.9 percent to achieve it in one year.


More than one half of the visited plan to spend more money on big data in the future, and 20 percent of these companies expect a growth over 50 percent.


The report shows that 64.9 percent of the visited prefer a locally-deployed big data platform, of which 48.6 percent want self-built one.


Nearly 40 percent tend to choose Hadoop, which is the most popular technology architecture for big data in the survey, and 22.4 percent want Spark.
